LAC Federal is seeking multiple dedicated and detail-oriented Library Technicians to join our team to support a major federal library in the Washington, D.C. area. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to collections maintenance, circulation support, document delivery, interlibrary loan, and general library operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the efficient functioning of a federal law library and to support the dissemination of legal knowledge. Specific duties and responsibilities will vary depending on assignment and location but will typically include the following: * Perform collections maintenance tasks, including shelving, filing, and organizing materials according to established classification systems * Provide circulation support by checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, and assisting patrons with account inquiries * Assist with document delivery services, including locating and retrieving requested materials from the library's collection * Coordinate interlibrary loan requests, including processing incoming and outgoing loan requests, and maintaining accurate records of borrowing and lending activities * Assist patrons with reference inquiries and provide basic research assistance under the guidance of librarians * Assist in the development and maintenance of library policies, procedures, and guidelines related to collections management and circulation services * Collaborate with colleagues to support the overall goals and objectives of the library Requirements Mandatory Qualifications * High School Degree or Equivalent * Previous experience working in a library or similar environment, particularly in a law library or academic library * Knowledge of how to shelve and file materials according to the Library of Congress Classification System * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively * Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with library patrons and staff * Proficiency in computer applications and library management systems * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment * Must be able to pass a background investigation Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field preferred * Familiarity with legal research tools and resources, such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, and legal databases, is preferred Benefits * Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision) * Retirement Plan (401k, IRA) * Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D) * Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays) * Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity) * Short Term & Long Term Disability * Training & Development * Wellness Resources
